I was out to lunch with a friend today (Thanks for going to lunch with me! & do you recognize that old microwave you gave me) She asked me what was the best project to tackle for her that will give her the most return on investment. She told me about several projects she was thinking of doing, one of them involved the kitchen. I think the kitchen is the heart of the home. It does not matter if I am showing an open house or hosting a party at my own home everyone ends up in the kitchen. Appliances are always a nice upgrade, but if you are really re-doing your kitchen I like to think about the flow of the kitchens functionality. (See Before and After pics of my old kitchen)
I recently remodeled a kitchen that was not functional and cut-off from the rest of the home. At the time I was living in the home and once I was finished it was such and improvement and I loved the results! So much I decided do it all again. I moved to another house that has a 60’s kitchen that looks like it is Betty Drapers kitchen from Mad Men. (More to come on that)
I have since rented the property and the pictures of the kitchen rented my house for me without much work. So I think the kitchen is the #1 place to put your money both for your own enjoyment and for your home value!
